OUR STORY

Trust Lab was founded by senior Trust & Safety executives from Google, YouTube, Reddit and TikTok with over 30 years of industry experience and a mission to make the web safer for everyone.

OUR LEADERSHIP

Benji Loney

Cofounder & President of Product

Benji has over 10 years of experience building and scaling Trust & Safety teams. As a policy and enforcement expert, he’s been on the forefront of navigating critical user and brand safety challenges for some of the industry’s most prolific Trust & Safety organizations, including YouTube, TikTok and Reddit. Benji combines his in-depth expertise across policy, operations and automation for high-risk safety areas to build state-of-the-art abuse-fighting products. He received his Bachelors in International Business from Carleton and an MBA from Stanford.

Shankar Ponnekanti

Cofounder & CTO

Shankar worked on machine learning and brand safety at Google and Youtube for 15 years, leading many of its technical efforts for revenue, trust and engagement while maximizing safety. As a Distinguished Engineer he launched multi-billion dollar products across Search, Youtube, Display and GMail ads and navigated YouTube’s brand safety crisis. Shankar received his B.S. (B. Tech.) from IIT Madras and PhD in Computer Science from Stanford.

Tom Siegel

Cofounder & CEO

Tom founded Google’s Trust & Safety team and scaled it into an industry-leading abuse fighting organization. For 10 years, Tom was the executive who led 1000s of engineers, policy experts, and ops specialists as they built the tools to protect Google’s 4 billion users. Believing the industry needed a third-party solution to the thorniest T&S problems, he started Trust Lab in 2020. Tom received his M.S. at the University of Technology Dresden and his MBA from Stanford.
