Trust & Safety Software Engineer

Full time / Remote

Trust Lab is an early-stage technology company in Palo Alto, California, with the mission to create a healthier and safer internet for everyone. As a trust and safety solutions company we work with social media companies, online marketplaces, app developers and other third parties to identify and mitigate safety risks such as misinformation, hate speech and child endangerment.

 

The founding team is made up of senior leaders from Google, Youtube, TikTok and Reddit, each with 10+ years of industry experience and a track record building state-of-the-art trust and safety tools and systems. Software Engineering, Machine Learning and Data Science are at the core of Trust Lab’s innovative approach. We develop groundbreaking new technologies and processes for online content safety monitoring and threat mitigation to make the web safer and more trustworthy for everyone.

 

We are looking for a self-starter who is passionate about all things data to join us immediately!

Like many companies around the world, Trust Lab is rethinking what the future of work looks like. Currently, our team is distributed around the world with some members of the team physically working from the same office, based on their personal preferences. The hybrid model is working well for us and we plan to continue in that mode going forward.

Responsibilities

 

  • Develop software and data science solutions for the collection, storing, and classification of unsafe online content. 

  • Take part in the entire cycle of software development, from ideation to delivery.

  • Conduct analysis of the performance of existing internal and external automated systems for unsafe online content.

  • Coordinate with different functional teams to implement technical solutions and monitor outcomes.

  • Suggest, collect and synthesize requirements and create an effective future roadmap. 

  • Projects are assigned based on experience and preference including backend, frontend, machine learning, DevOps and full stack among others.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 - 5 years of professional software development experience where you were coding at least 50% of the time. 

  • Ability to write high-quality, well-tested code and are comfortable with Python. 

  • Experience prototyping and putting into production new tools, systems, or classifiers.

  • Proven ability to scale technical systems.

Extras

  • Experience and interest in working in the trust and safety domain. 

  • Experience designing large-scale distributed systems and scaled data processing. 

  • Experience with API design for framework security and system programming. 

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas; Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Pattern Recognition, Data Mining, Graph Theory
